Youth Program
crosscurrent Voyages is a 501(c)(3) organization, all contributions are tax deductible

Acknowledging that the future of our society is dependent on the quality of our  youth,
we at Crosscurrent Voyages endeavour to enhance the  development of our youth
in various areas, including: practical, hands-on adventure learning aboard a tallship,
providing a “living”  scientific classroom, helping to develop individual moral character
and personal self-worth.

We  use experiential education,
adventure and managed risk-taking for  growth and development.

Our  primary goal is  assisting youth and youth-at-risk to develop a strong sense of  character and community,
while installing self-esteem in a  hands-on situation.

With a volunteer staff, we expose  the students to the maritime field, tallship sail-training,
marine  animals and eco-system, problem solving, management skills,  communication and cooperative learning.

The program is directed towards  established groups with their leaders
and is intended to complement  their goals and may be used by them as an incentive or reward.

Onboard activities may include tying and untying the vessel,
sail  and line  handling, sailor knots, rowing, anchoring, lookout,
navigation  skills, chart reading, record keeping, marine radio  communications,
engineering skills,  and  sailboat maintenance.
